Description

This is a museum quality replica of the Crabtree Discharger attached to a replica Fuze top for display.

You get both items in the pictures.
The Crabtree discharger was a device used by the Royal Engineers Bomb Disposal  Squadrons during WW2.
The idea was to discharge the electric charge in order for the fuze to be removed safely.
However the Germans soon caught on to this idea and changed the way they worked and would go off if a Crabtree was inserted.
The  prongs of the discharger were then removed and used as a removal tool.
The device was clamped to the fuze after removing the locking ring and a piece of cord attached to the top loop and pulled out via a pully system for safety.
There are some very good clips of this shown in the 1980’s TV series “Danger UXB” which I believe is still available on DVD.
Please look at all of the pictures as they form part of the item description.
